KATE SCHARF
I am an artist living and working in Cape Town. I was born in 1993 in Pietermaritzburg, Kwa-Zulu Natal. I focus on drawing, painting and printmaking. My foliagescapes reflect my fascination with botanical art and landscape. Much of my work is an expression of the uplifting, calming and reassuring qualities inherent in gardens and nature.
I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Fine Art in 2018 from the University of Stellenbosch. In 2021, I obtained my MA in Visual Arts from the same university.
My work seeks to bring contentment and tranquillity to the viewer. By utilising soothing colours and constructing harmonious, balanced compositions, I seek to create art that invites the viewer inward.
My work has been obtained by various private collectors, as well as galleries such as Ebony Curated. My work has been displayed in various venues such as The Stack (Cape Town) and Skinny Legs (Cape Town). My work has also featured in galleries such as RK Contemporary (Riebeeck Kasteel), Art on Avenues (Somerset West) and Rust-en-Vrede Gallery (Durbanville).
I am based at my studio at SideTrack Studios, The Spice Yard, Salt River.
